 Contact us…

David Parker is Head of Remanufacturing at Oakdene Hollins.

David Parker MEng MBA MIChemE

After reading chemical engineering at Cambridge, David worked for ICI and DuPont in R&D, production, engineering and business investment evaluation.

David has an MBA from Durham University Business School and has been with Oakdene Hollins since 2001.

Supporting David in the CRR are Technical Consultants Ben Walsh, Fiona Kelday, Hudai Kara and Simon Walton.

Ben Walsh MSci PhD MRSC

Ben joined us in 2005 from Nottingham University, where he was Business Science Fellow involved with collaboration between industry and academia.

Ben's PhD ('Automated Reactions in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide') followed on from his combined Bachelor/Masters degree in Chemistry. His work at Oakdene Hollins draws on his knowledge of both remanufacturing and nano-technology.

Fiona Kelday BSc(Hons) MSc AIEMA

Fiona recently completed an MSc in Design for Sustainability from Cranfield University, in which she addressed sustainable development through design, creativity and innovation.

For her BSc (Hons) in Product Design Engineering, from BCUC, Fiona specialized in the environmental benchmarking of products, with a particular interest in the development of product service systems and the potential for companies to innovate in this area.

Hudai Kara BSc MSc DPhil MIMMM

Hudai joined our remanufacturing team with a DPhil in Materials (Ceramics) from the University of Oxford. He is a materials scientist and a metallurgist, experienced in the thermodynamic modelling of industrial processes, modelling oxide systems, process development and optimisation, materials characterisation and testing, and technology transfer.

As a recent consultant at Johnson Matthey, Hudai provided technical consultancy services to Anglo Platinum and JM worldwide. He liaised with National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and Mineral Industry Research Organisation (MIRO) on oxide database development for industrial processes.

For the CRR, Hudai has developed an Excel-based remanufacturing opportunity tool and will be looking at carbon impact of various product groups.

Simon Walton BSc

Simon joined us in 2008 as a Technical Consultant, initially with the Centre for Remanufacturing and Re-use.

Simon has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from PCL, and has comprehensive experience involving the origination and supply of manufacturing equipment and processes. As a consultant to Eneco Ltd, he advised on the development of alternatively fuelled power systems; as Design and Project Manager for APT Cenca Ltd, he designed equipment to re-use existing machine elements such as machining heads and electric and pneumatic control system elements, working on a Honda spoiler processing unit.
