Some of our current and recent projects include:
an analysis of the viability of reverse haul within the UK hospitality sector
a report on the quantification of potential energy from residuals in the UK
an analysis of the causes of inland fuel and oil incidents in E&W
an economic study of the waste oils market in the UK
change of legislation compensation studies
opportunities in the re-manufacturing sector
a study of how cost reductions in rare-earth magnets will impact the electric motor and drive market

Reverse haul in the hospitality sector
This June 2005 report is a 'thorough and comprehensive' study of the viability of collecting glass from licensed premises and returning it to depots on the same vehicles that deliver beer and other drinks to the outlets.

Quantification of EfR in the UK
Published in April 2005, this report sets out to determine the potential electrical yield from the UK's residual waste up to 2020, and the potential contribution that energy recovery from residual waste could make to the UK's target under the EU's Renewables Directive.

Inland oil and fuel incidents
This report, which is the result of a comprehensive study based on a range of sources of information of incidents, found that there are around 800 serious incidents caused by oil or fuel in England and Wales each year, and identifies four significant causal factors. The report, released in 2005, also recommends that focus be placed on capturing more incident data on formal systems.

Waste oils market study

Completed in March 2001, this report examines the economics of the waste oil recovery industry and evaluates the future of the industry in the light of proposed EU legislation. We consider that EU pressure will cause further consolidation in the market and the viability of alternative treatment technologies will improve by 2006.

WASTE OILS - Policy Options in the Light of German and Italian Experience
The UK, in common with 12 other EU member states, is considering how best to respond to the requirements of the Waste Oils Directive 75/439/EEC. We report on the waste oil markets in Germany and Italy, countries that have traditionally manufactured significant quantities of base stocks from used oil sources to investigate whether the UK could adopt similar policies. - Download the Waste Oils report pdf for free (800kb)

Change of legislation reports.
Used to justify compensation claims on behalf of leading environmental services contractors with long-term contracts.

The value and growth potential for the remanufacturing sector in the UK.
Based on a similar study carried out in the USA. Due to be launched shortly.

Implications for electric motors and drives of rare-earth magnet cost reduction
Published in June 2002
A 153-page study of interest to electric vehicle manufacturers, first tier component suppliers and magnet manufacturers.
