Working with SITA Suez, Biffa, Viridor and Veolia we have developed MRF best practice procedures and guides that identify how to optimise income generation and improved quality of recyclate outputs. In general we apply lean manufacturing techniques to MRF processes to identify ways of optimising outputs. Read more
Many of our reports on improving recyclate quality through changes to the processes within MRFs are available for download.
We provide detailed cost analysis to the largest companies in the sector including SITA Suez and manage “cost-pass-through” (CPT) claims to be made by waste companies during long term contracts. These have included complex cost analysis of Energy from Waste plants, recycling operations and landfill sites. Read more
Almost all long term contracts in the sector permit contractors to make a claim for additional payments in circumstances where there has been an unforeseen change of law. Further clauses allow claims to be made where certain circumstances arise. To undertake an analysis of these costs can be a diversion for staff in the contractor. We offer to manage the process and to do so in a way that is technically robust and sensitive to the on-going relationship with the client. We have a successful back catalogue of successful outcomes. The analysis and reports are not available for download. If there are questions about this service please contact us.
Working with SafetyKleen, EcoOil and the European Oil Re-refining association (GEIR) we have provided life cycle assessment advice on used oils and market assessments of the investment implications of legislative changes. Read more
Beginning in 2001 Oakdene Hollins has provided analysis of the used oil collection and processing market in the UK and has including analysis of policies in other European countries. We have also worked for the Western Australian Waste Management Board. Whilst our studies and reports for individual investors and companies in the sector are not available for download several other reports are available. The adoption of a Fuels Protocol in the Uk raises new issues and challenges. If there are further questions please contact us.
Creating new protocols and accepted quality standards is one way of improving markets for recyclates. We have been active in doing so for several years. Read more
Bringing together stakeholders in a supply chain to agree a protocol or new standard can be difficult but presents the opportunity to achieve prices for standardised secondary materials. Sometimes working in collaboration with BSI or TUV/NEL we have developed new market instruments. We have long term material-specific knowledge in secondary markets for glass, plastics, oils, wood, tyres and plasterboard. Standards and protocols are available for download. If there questions about our on-going work in this arena please contact us.
As the wastes sector focuses on getting maximum value from separated elements of waste we have deep knowledge on technologies, markets, regulatory instruments and research in the recovery of energy from SRF. Read more
Oakdene Hollins and has over ten years’ experience of research into remanufacturing and reuse options, and operates the Centre for Remanufacturing and Reuse.
All of our work in SRF markets is commercially confidential and not available for download. If there are questions about the market and the technical specification for various market applications please contact us.
Working with Rotherham NHS Trust we advised on achieving on the practicalities of achieving zero waste objectives. Read more
The clinical waste market in the UK has been largely consolidated although several smaller scale novel treatment technologies present a mild threat to the market position of incumbents. Some NHS Trusts are working to develop zero waste policies that include a focus on reducing wastes. However, clinical wastes are some of the most complex sources of wastes to stream and manage without interfering with the principal objectives of medical care facilities. None of our studies in this arena are available for download without permission from our clients.
